A student’s body was discovered on campus, prompting Binghamton University to postpone classes until Monday.
Monday morning, the school issued a notice to the whole campus informing everyone that classes were canceled because of an investigation taking place on campus.

As to the statement from the school, which is also known as the State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY Binghamton), there was no threat to the community or campus, and the situation was removed by 10:47 a.m.
A student was found dead next to the Bartle Library Tower on campus early on Monday morning, according to Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger, who also stated later on Monday that New York State University Police at Binghamton and Harpur’s Ferry ambulance came to the scene.

According to WIVT, the 15-story tower is the biggest structure on the main campus of Binghamton University.
WBNG reports that investigators concluded that there was no illegal activity involved. The student’s name has not been disclosed, but the student’s family has been informed.
In a letter to students and faculty, Stenger said,
“Our deepest condolences go to the family and friends of the student. We are overwhelmed by the tragic nature of their passing.”
