A 35-acre wildfire in Clackamas County, Oregon, near a reservoir in the Bull Run Watershed threatened Portland’s potable water.
So far, the city’s tap water has been declared safe to drink, by the Xinhua news agency on Friday 25, August, 2023.
The Bull Run Watershed has long been closed to tourists in order to protect the water supply, which has been referred to as “Portland’s enduring jewel.”
The Camp Creek Fire is burning south of Reservoir 1, roughly three miles from the city’s Headwaters treatment facility. The wildfire was started overnight by lightning and was first noticed before daylight on Thursday 26, August, 2023. She went on to say that the fire is “100% contained.”

Lightning strikes in Oregon overnight caused at least six fires in the Willamette National Forest, more than 200 miles distant.
Meanwhile, evacuations for residences threatened by the Smith River Complex fire, which is burning on the Oregon-California border, have been expanded.
