School and police officials in Massachusetts say that a middle school teacher is on paid administrative leave because they were accused of grabbing a student.

On Wednesday, a message was sent to families in the Pentucket Regional School District, which includes the towns of Groveland, Merrimac, and West Newbury. The news was about what happened at Pentucket Regional Middle School.

The message was signed by the superintendent of Pentucket Regional School District, Justin Bartholomew, the principal of Pentucket Regional Middle School, Terry Conant, and the chief of police in West Newbury, Michael Dwyer.

Officials say that the teacher and student talked in a hallway during a break between classes on Tuesday afternoon.

When a complaint about the incident came in Wednesday morning, school officials started looking into it immediately and called the West Newbury police.

We understand that an incident such as this may be upsetting to students and their caretakers, and that there may be many questions in our community.
