Joyce Rohmiller Obituary: Graduated From Bellevue High School In 1949

On November 13, 2002, Joyce Rae Rohmiller, 91, died quietly at Asbury Methodist Retirement Village in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Everyone who knew her described her as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Her absence will be felt keenly. She was the daughter of Leota (Galloway) Lach and Elmer Thomas Lach. She was born on August 14th, 1931, in Bellevue, Kentucky.

She was the class poet at Bellevue High School when she graduated in 1949. In May 1953, she wed Charles Rohmiller of Covington, Kentucky, and the couple had two kids.

Joyce started as an executive secretary when her kids were in junior high school. She worked for several organizations, including Rockville Fuel & Feed and the National 4-H Council Headquarters in Maryland.

After retiring, Joyce and Charles traveled from Wheaton, MD, to Wilmington, NC, to The Villages, FL, with Joyce making a last move back to Maryland to be near her family. She has long been a member of Wheaton, Maryland’s Pilgrim United Church of Christ.

Her parents, Elmer and Leota, her husband, Charles, her brother Marion, and her sister Annabelle passed away before her. Son David (Vicki), daughter Patricia, grandchildren Allison (Mason), Katie (Keith), Abbey, and Charlie, as well as niece and goddaughter Pam, survive her.

For medical research, Joyce had prearranged to have her corpse donated to the Maryland State Anatomy Board.

Research. She will be buried beside her husband, Charles, in Kentucky following her cremation. There will be no funeral. The American Heart Association accepts donations. Ingrid Rohmiller
