Terry Sanford High School Suspends Godbolt And Spencer Amidst Controversy

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Both the principal and vice principal of Terry Sanford High School in Cumberland County have been placed on paid administrative leave following their school’s decision to suspend them.

Principal John Royvell Godbolt and Vice Principal Quantisha Spencer have been placed on administrative leave with pay, according to a statement released by Cumberland County Schools on May 1.

The school district did not elaborate on the thought process that led to the decision.

Since July of the previous year, Godbolt has served as the principal of Terry Sanford High School. The year 2022 marked Spencer’s first day on the job as vice principal.

Rhonda Hill, an educator who recently retired, has consented to take over as the temporary principal of the school. Tom Hatch, who most recently served in that capacity at Terry Sanford High School, will provide assistance to Rhonda Hill until further notice.
