Thursday marked the first time parents from the Uvalde community entered the school where their children had been mu*dered nearly a year ago.
On May 24, 2022, a sh00ting at Robb Elementary School resulted in the de@ths of nineteen students and two teachers, making it the location of the second-de@dliest school sh00ting in the annals of American education.
This comes at a time when the small Texas town is getting ready to commemorate the first anniversary of the sh00ting rampage, in which the perpetrator was slain by law enforcement more than an hour after he began a fire in two classrooms. The visit comes at a time when the community is preparing to honor the occasion.
Some parents have been asking for weeks to be allowed back into the school, which has been off-limits ever since the tragic event that took place there. At first, authorization was denied to them since there was still an active criminal investigation.
However, at the beginning of this year, officials indicated to ABC News that it would be possible for the parents to pay a visit, provided that the necessary arrangements could be made with the school system, which continues to hold ownership of the land.

As a result of the sh00ting, several parents have taken up the cause of g*n control in the state, including lobbying for legislation that would make the minimum age requirement for purchasing semi-automatic rifles, which was only 18 years old at the time of the sh00ting.
Families from Uvalde have also voiced their disapproval of the law enforcement officials’ response during the sh00ting. It took 77 minutes for any of the almost 400 law enforcement personnel gathered together that day to face the ki!!er.
Several parents have reported that police officers prevented them from entering the school to save their children during the att@ck by physically restraining them and even handcuffing them to prevent them from protecting their children.
Following persistent criticism of law enforcement officials’ response to the sh00tingat the Uvalde school district in the fall of 2017, the entire district police force was placed on administrative leave.
