Police have discovered weapons in connection with a Friday morning assault at a private school that left two kids hospitalized.
Following the incident at Blundell’s School in Tiverton, Devon, one boy is severely ill.
A 16-year-old town resident has been detained on suspicion of three counts of intentionally causing great bodily harm.
Devon and Cornwall Police state that, “some weapons were located at the scene.”
A male staff member who also sustained significant injuries has been released from the hospital, while the second injured youngster is still in stable condition.
This was “a very traumatic incident for those involved,” Police Superintendent Antony Hart states.
On Friday afternoon, he added: “We are still establishing what happened in the early hours of this morning and an extensive investigation continues.”

Supt. Hart continued: “While we can confirm some weapons were located at the scene, it would not be appropriate to speculate on how these may have been involved while our enquiries continue.”
“Our priority is to fully investigate this incident and support the victims, their families and the school community.”
School head Bart Wielenga stated that he was “confident that this was an isolated incident” in a letter to parents and guardians of pupils that the BBC obtained.
For “some time,” he said, there would be a police presence near Petergate, one of the school’s boarding houses.
Mr. Wielenga stated in the letter that the school and police were collaborating closely and that he would be speaking to the students and providing support.
