Hugh Douglas Jr., whose name was given after the famed former pass rusher for the Philadelphia Eagles, was one of two people who perished in an automobile accident on the holiday of Labor Day. Hugh Douglas and Christian Files Jr., both students at Morehouse College in Atlanta, were killed in a collision that took place on Monday, September 4, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., and they both perished in the incident.
Douglas, the son of a former Eagles great, was reportedly in a car driven by his buddy and college roommate Christian Files Jr. on Monday afternoon when the vehicle swerved off the road as Files tried to pass another car at a high speed in the bend. Douglas was reportedly a passenger in the accident. It is believed that the car involved in the incident hit two power poles and then flipped, resulting in the deaths of both passengers at the site.
Hugh Douglas’ Son Death Confirms
Hugh Douglas and Christion Files Jr.’s deaths were confirmed by The Morehouse College in an Instagram message following the catastrophic crash. Morehouse College in Atlanta claimed that the two pupils would graduate in 2025. University administrators, who described the two students as “exceptional young men and close friends,” stated:
“Morehouse mourns the loss of Hugh Douglas ’25 and Christion Files Jr. ’25, who were involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in their untimely passing on Monday afternoon. Hugh and Christion were not just friends but also roommates during their sophomore year, and their loss is deeply felt by all of us in the Morehouse family.”

Victims Of Hugh Douglas And Christian Files Jr.
Douglas was a great student who was set to graduate in 2025, according to Moore House College. Douglas was a member of the Morehouse Business Association and was pursuing a business administration degree with a finance concentration. Douglas, a Goldman Sachs Fellow, had just finished an internship at Ares Management Corporation in Los Angeles.
Christian Files Jr., who was killed alongside Hugh Douglas on Monday afternoon, was also seeking a business administration degree with an emphasis on marketing, according to the college. Files was also a member of the Morehouse Track & Field team, the Junior Class Council’s media chair, and the Morehouse Business Association. They stated:
“Beyond these achievements, Christion was known for his photography and videography skills, which he used to create high-quality content for students, campus organizations, Morehouse Athletics, and the College’s marketing office.”
Following the devastating tragedy, the university urged its students to band together in their grief and grieve the death of two passionately bright individuals. Counseling services will also be made available to individuals in need, according to college officials.
