A nearby school has canceled lessons in response to the weekend shooting murder of a student in Youngstown.
Valley Christian Schools student, 15, was slain at Martha’s Boulevard Tavern on Saturday night.
Valley Christian Administration notified parents that the school would be closed on Monday, April 16, so that staff could be trained to deal with the emotional needs of the students.

On Tuesday, there will be an early release from school for bereavement counseling. Wednesday will resume its regular program, but bereavement counseling will last at least for the remainder of the academic year.
According to police, the shooting occurred on Saturday just before 11 p.m., as a birthday party ended. At some point, someone pulled out a gun and started shooting. The girl was caught in the crossfire and murdered.
Her identity is still a secret.
