On March 23, 2023, Arlyce A. (Totsy) Moody, 78, of Clear Lake in Gemmell, Minnesota, passed away. The Blackduck, Minnesota-based Cease Family Funeral Home is planning a Celebration of Life.
Kenneth W. and Anne E. (De La Barre) Treitline’s daughter Arlyce was born in Waukegan, Illinois, on May 1st, 1944.
Arlyce’s family traveled around a little when she was growing up—to New Leipzig, Illinois; Milwaukee; and Caledonia, Wisconsin—but she could finish high school in Mott, North Dakota, from which she received her diploma in 1962.
She continued her education at Valley City State College in Valley City, North Dakota, where she graduated in 1966 with a degree in teaching. From 1967 to 1969, she was a physical education teacher at Shawano, Wisconsin, and Schofield, Wisconsin.
She met Eric B. Moody while serving as a bridesmaid for a close friend from college. Soon later, the two got hitched, and in 1970 they returned to Valley City, North Dakota.
In 1973, their daughter Michelle was born. They remained there until 1976 when a job opportunity led them to move to Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Arlyce spent some years in Grand Forks as an office manager for Crystal Sugar and some years as a tax preparation for H&R Block.

She had free time throughout the summer to care for their daughter, the garden, and—most importantly—the FISH! She belonged to the Lions Club and the Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
She frequently traveled with Eric to Lions conventions. After retiring with Eric to Clear Lake in 1996, she kept up her passion for gardening and fishing there. During the years, the two visited Arlyce’s brothers and Eric’s sisters and places where Michelle worked (CA, NY, MI, NC, OK, VA, etc.).
Her daughter Michelle (Mark McDaniel) Moody of Chaska, Minnesota, her sisters-in-law Evie Treitline of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and Esther Schlueter of Pierre, South Dakota, as well as a large number of adored nieces and nephews, survive her.
Her parents, her four incredible brothers, and her husband, Eric Moody, predeceased her.
