Her children, Joan Emerson Teer and her husband Page Teer, and Catherine Alexius (Cae) Emerson, as well as her son, William Parsley Emerson, junior, and Terre Henry, all of whom live in Wilmington, survive her.
Her grandchildren include Michael Page Teer, junior, and his wife Lillian Smith Teer of Wilmington, John Alexius Teer of Chapel Hill, William Emerson Teer and his wife Alison Lukes Teer of Alexandria, Virginia, and William Parsley Emerson III and Henry Clay Emerson. Mrs. Emerson was predeceased by her fraternal twin brother, Harold Davis Alexius, and her identical twin brother, John Nelson Alexius, Junior.
Mrs. Emerson received her bachelor’s degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and remained an active alumna. She was a member of St. James Parish, the Cape Fear Country Club, The Surf Club, and the Carolina Yacht Club, among others.
Furthermore, she was devoted to The Ministering Circle and The Catherine Kennedy Home, serving as president of the boards of both organizations during her participation. Mrs. Emerson was also a member of The National Society of Colonial Dames of America’s North Carolina chapter.
