George Tyndall Obituary

George Tyndall Obituary: Dr. George Tyndall, a former gynecologist at USC, has sadly passed away at the age of 76. His death, which occurred by suicide on October 4, 2023, at his Los Angeles residence, has brought to light the troubling history of accusations against him for inappropriate behavior towards many women.

According to Tyndall’s lawyer, Leonard Levine, a close friend of the doctor became concerned when they couldn’t reach him and discovered his lifeless body in his bed. This discovery took place on a Thursday.

The USC Scandal

Before his death, Dr. Tyndall was at the center of a major scandal. In March 2021, USC agreed to pay a substantial $852 million to settle the sexual assault claims made by more than 700 women against him. These allegations were brought into the public eye by USC itself, revealing the extent of the problem.

A Billion-Dollar Settlement

In addition to the settlement, another former employee of USC, who had also filed complaints against the institution, reached an even larger settlement of over $1 billion. This followed a class-action lawsuit against the university.

Ongoing Legal Troubles

It’s worth noting that at the time of his passing, Dr. Tyndall was still facing criminal charges related to alleged sexual assaults that were said to have occurred at USC’s student health center between 2009 and 2016. He had pleaded not guilty and was out on bail.
