Virginia White Obituary: Graduating Class Of 1961 From Brooklyn’s BGM High School

Virginia Lea Bauman White, 80, of Winnsboro, LA, will be buried at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery after a 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Dennard First National Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10.

Virginia Bauman, born September 15, 1942, in Montezuma, IA, to Lyle Bauman and Ileen Ward Bauman, died February 8, 2023, at Plantation Manor Nursing and Rehab in Winnsboro, LA, surrounded by her family. Virginia graduated from Brooklyn’s BGM High School in 1961.

Paris Academy of Cosmetology in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduated her in 1962. She married Brooklynite Jack Mitchell in January 1964 and had five children: Susan, Brenda, Brian, Tina, and Jenny. She “retired” from the beauty shop in 1984, moved to Winnsboro, and divorced. She married Winnsboro’s Jack White on October 18, 1998, until his 2001 death.

Virginia ran her own beauty shop until 1984 when she moved to Winnsboro and worked for Norman and Sissy Underwood for several years and then Junior and Debbie Lawrence from 1996 to 2010 when she retired again. Crafting, gardening, traveling, and reading filled her retirement. She adored her church family and “coffee ladies”. Virginia’s parents, husband Jack White, and brother Lyle Bauman, Jr. died.

Virginia is survived by daughter Susan Wright; daughter Brenda Struth (John); son Brian Mitchell (Kathy); daughter Tina Brazell (Curly); daughter Jennifer Holley (Donald); nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; four stepdaughters: Tina Berkemeyer, Rita Hales, Toni Munholland, Sarah Ward, and their families; one brother Roger Bauman; sisters Beverly McCammant, Pat Massengale (Larry), and Sharon Linderwell; and a host of other.
