At the age of 54, Yagmin was discovered deceased in his New Britain, Connecticut, condominium located at 410 Farmington Avenue. Michael Yagmin, a former New Britain municipal fire lieutenant, passed away due to an unintentional overdose.

According to the Chief Medical Examiner, xylazine, a veterinary sedative and muscle relaxant, and fentanyl combined to cause acute intoxication, which resulted in his death. The firehouse drug controversy of the previous year revolved around Yagmin.

He was sacked on February 18, 2022, for lying to investigators when it was found that he had given firefighter Matthew Dizney illegal narcotics. An internal investigation began following Dizney’s passing at his Southington residence.

At least three of the six firefighters who had used illegal drugs while performing their duties had done so, according to the investigation. Certain chemicals that were present in Michael’s body were also present in Dizney’s system.
