On February 12, 2023, Madelyn Margaret Nellius, 73, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Robert Clifford and Elizabeth Allen (Lingle) Zilmer and was born on June 16, 1949, in West Reading, Pennsylvania.
Madelyn was raised in West Reading, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Reading High School in 1967. She moved to Dover, Delaware, in 1975 after leaving Pennsylvania, then in 1999, she moved further south, settling at Rehoboth Beach. She attended Delaware Technical Community College and graduated with a certificate in veterinary technology; she loved all animals, but cats in particular.
Having served on the Delaware State Board of Nursing for Medical Licensure and Discipline, a position she was extremely proud of and found to be quite satisfying, Madelyn retired from the State of Delaware’s Department of Transportation.
She was a devoted member of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church and her faith served as an anchor in her life. She was a passionate conservationist who placed a high value on maintaining our natural resources and wildlife. She was a vibrant, bubbly soul who adored her family with all of her heart.
All those who had the honor of knowing her will miss her dearly. She was a loving and loyal mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Angelica, Savannah, Emerson, and Braxton Rosato, Elizabeth, and Christina Orlando, as well as her brother Richard Zilmer (Lorie) of Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, her nephews Christian and Travis Zilmer, and her nieces Elizabeth Lesiewicz and Lyndsey Zilmer, survive Madelyn.
